FAQs
Q1. What is epoxy resin flooring?
Epoxy resin flooring is a seamless surface made by applying layers of epoxy resin over a prepared base, creating a tough, glossy (or matte) finish. It’s durable, waterproof, stain-resistant, and available in many colours and finishes.
Q2. Where can epoxy resin floors be installed?
Almost anywhere — kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms, garages, showrooms, restaurants, workshops, and even outdoors (with UV-resistant coatings). They’re popular in both residential and commercial spaces.
Q3. How long does epoxy resin flooring last?
With proper installation and maintenance, epoxy floors typically last 10–20 years. In lower-traffic areas, they can last even longer.
Q4. Are epoxy resin floors slippery?
Standard epoxy has a smooth finish, but we can add anti-slip textures or flakes for extra grip. In wet areas like bathrooms, kitchens, or garages, we usually recommend a slip-resistant topcoat.
Q5. How do you clean and maintain epoxy floors?
Very easily — just sweep or vacuum regularly and mop with warm water and a mild detergent. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners. Unlike tiles, there are no grout lines to trap dirt.
Q6. How much does epoxy flooring cost?
Costs vary depending on the size of the area, the preparation required, and the chosen finish. Contact us for a tailored quote.
Q7. How long does installation take?
We use the best quality resins exclusively from XtremePolishingSystems, their advanced technology allows installations to be completed in as little as 2 days, depending on the preparation required. More often a project will take between 3–7 days from preparation to final cure, depending on floor size, number of coats, and curing times. Garages and small rooms may be completed faster.
Q8. Can epoxy resin be installed over existing tiles or concrete?
Yes — as long as the base is sound and properly prepared. We grind, repair, and prime the substrate before applying resin. In some cases, a levelling compound and damp-proof membrane may be required.
Q9. Will epoxy resin floors crack?
Epoxy resin itself doesn’t crack under normal use, but if the substrate below (e.g., concrete) moves or cracks, it can show through. We take steps during preparation to minimise this risk.
Q10. Are epoxy resin floors eco-friendly?
Epoxy is a long-lasting, low-waste flooring option because it rarely needs replacement. It also doesn’t require grout or adhesives, and it can be installed over existing floors to reduce landfill waste.
Q11. Can I choose custom colours or patterns?
Absolutely — metallic swirls, marble effects, flakes, quartz, or solid colours are all available. Each floor is unique and can be tailored to your taste.
